Our Mission here at COUSINS ORIGINALS is to promote and pass along to all generations, the joy, serinity, blessings and gratification that one achieves from creating both simple and complicated items of beauty with ones own hands.   We believe that hands on art must live on!

Joan thrives on doing pyrography (wood burning) on most anything but especially embraces using Nature's given pieces as her canvas', these include the ancient gourd, all sorts of wood and even paper, canvas and leather, as the desire presents itself.

A new added art is the carving of the Internationally known HITTY DOLLS.  Joan does all the carving by hand and makes the clothes with needle and thread, no machines are used in the processes.

This original art is sold at Shows, on the Internet (E-Bay seller ID: Starcloud344) and in select stores along the West Coast as well as in other states from time to time.  However, most of her work is commissioned,  advertised the old fashion way ... word of mouth, and this keeps her busy!

Some individual and group classes are also given from time to time, by appointment only, with from 1 to 10 students.  However, at this time in her life, Joan really prefers just doing art that makes her eyes happy and hopes they make your eyes happy as well.

Our Business

COUSINS ORIGINALS was started by JOAN COUSINS when raising a family only afforded a wee bit of time for release of the creative imagination that swirled around in the artistic mind of this young woman from the Rocky Mountains of Idaho. 

As time progressed and the children grew to adulthood Joan began the path of creativity that was so much a part of her very core.  Always a new image, a new method, a new product, a new adventure and a billion new ideas to try out.

Now well into her 70's Joan is still finding new and exciting things to experiment with so keep watching this site for these new developments!
