Cousins Originals - mixed media

Mehitable "HITTY" Preble is an actual little pegged, hand carved, 6.25" wooden pocket doll from the 1820's.  She currently resides at the Stockbridge Library Museum in Stockbridge Massachusettes.

These HITTY dolls are all hand carved by me, W. Joan Cousins.  I make all the clothes using only needle and thread, no machines.

My HITTY dolls are pegged at shoulders and hips so their arms and legs move in tandem, just like the original HITTY doll.

All of my HITTY dolls have painted black curls, blue eyes (with a few exceptions), black boots, white knee stockings and red garters just like the original doll.  I make my red "coral" necklace out of glass beads on jewelers wire.

#11, HITTY "Lorie" is 6 1/4" tall and is a commissioned doll for a dear lady in CA.  She is constructed and painted the same as the Original HITTY.  See 'thumbnails' on the left for more pictures.  $150.00 + s/h.  SOLD.  The  bench if for display only.

#12 HITTY "Vivian" is a 6-1/4"  made of Butternut wood which shows a lot of wonderful, rich, natural grain.  She is painted and constructed just like the original HITTY with the exception of having brown eyes.   $125.00 ....  pmt pending!

#13, HITTY "Margie" is 6-1/2" tall and comes with her lovely new decorated hat and faux pearl necklace.  The twig chair is for display only.  $150.00  SOLD to a very sweet lady in CA.  "Margie" is now very happy living with her new family of beautiful  HITTY's carved by famous artists.
